Gardax - Tiny Psionic Lizard

The Gardax is a tiny, but fierce lizard. Males aggressively guard their territories against anyone they see as a threat, especially other males. Gardax males keep a group of females in their territory to breed with.
They have a brown and black coloration that provides good camouflage in the desert wastes. They have upper jaws which overlap the lower ones and nostrils that can be closed at will. Flaps also close against the ear openings and the upper and lower eyelids have interlocking scales. These adaptations prevent the intrusion of sand particles into the lizard's body.

The Gardax is a tiny lizard that is well adapted to the hot dry climate of the Tablelands. They have brown and black coloration that provides good camouflage in the desert wastes. They have upper jaws which overlap the lower ones and nostrils that can be closed at will. Flaps also close against the ear openings and the upper and lower eyelids have interlocking scales. These adaptations prevent the intrusion of sand particles into the lizard's body.

Combat
Unless fighting other gardax, the gardax prefers to use their psionics when fighting a foe. Males dislike any other male of any species and will attack unprovoked. Only gardax males have psionics however. Females will bite and attempt to poison those who threaten the lounge. A female's poison is type B, but has an onset time of immediate.

Habitat/ Society
The Gardax is a tiny, but fierce lizard. Males aggressively guard their territories against anyone they see as a threat, especially other males. Gardax males keep a group of females in their territory to breed with. Females lay 2d4 eggs twice per year in a sand burrow. Hatchlings must dig themselves out and are on their own from the very beginning. Young gardax are helpless until they are three months old.

Ecology
Young gardax are an important food source for many creatures. Young gardax scatter from their birth pit and will seek other young gardax from other birth pits. Once they mature, at six months old, they form a typical lounge of one male and up to eight females. Males will kill each other if needed to guard their territory.
