A dune reaper was sharpening his bladed arms busily against a hard stone, when a cilops happened by. Now the cilops was always looking for a
chance to make fun of the other desert creatures. So, he made a great show of looking
anxiously about, as if in fear of some hidden enemy. But the dune reaper kept
right on with his work.
After a long while, the clips asked with a grin"Why are you doing that? There isn't any danger that I can see."
"That is true," replied the dune reaper, "but when danger does come, I will not have time for this work. My weapons must be ready for danger, whenever it comes, or I will suffer for it."
