Session Ninety-Seven: Mountain Dangers

Cheet explained to Samsun that aarokocra had attacked the village, but they had been driven off. Samsun yawned and said okay. He then went back into the hut to sleep.
Uhrakkus Yacoub, the leader of the village and eldest dwarf resident, summoned Raco to his stone hut. Yacoub praised Raco and his companions for their battle prowess. He asked if they would be willing to free the village from another threat they faced. He explained that some stone-walking monsters sometimes kidnapped people from their village and they were never seen again. The dwarven warriors, who had followed the stone walkers into their mountain, had also never returned. He asked if Raco and his companions would be willing to confront the monsters. He offered to return the iron broadsword, if they were successful. Raco said he would present the idea to his group.
Raco returned to the hut they shared and presented the offer to the group. After a brief debate, they decided that the rain drake eggs were more important than the dwarves. Raco returned to Uhrakkus Yacoub and declined the offer. The Uhrakkus was disappointed.
After getting packed up, a dwarf lead them down a small mountain pass. Then, they had to climb. Cheet had the most difficult time climbing. Eventually, she tied a rope around herself and Samsun pulled her up.
After hiking for a few hours, they found a small cave. Inside was a dead mul. Raco and Dimitria moved into the cave and were a little surprised when the dead mul moved. They were even more surprised when he spoke. He asked them who they were and what they wanted. They said that they were traveling to the Forest Ridge, through the mountains, and just needed a place to rest. The mul said he didn't care what they did, as long as they didn't get in his way.

Samsun offered healing, but the mul adamantly declined. The group asked the mul what he was doing in the mountains and the mul told them his story. He had been a gladiator in Raam. He hated his master so much, that he willingly died during a match, knowing that his master would lose a substantial amount of coin on a wager he had made. Unfortunately, his master sold his body to a defiler, who raised him and magically enslaved him. Now, he was forced to roam the world, looking for a magical blade called the Scourge. He explained what the large bronze sword looked like and the group explained that they had never seen the sword, nor heard word of its location. They said they would let him know, if they discovered anything about it.
Raco said that he would stay awake and let everyone else sleep. So, everyone, except Raco and the undead mul, went to sleep.

Day 1, Week 1, Fifthover, Friend's Vengeance, 190th King's Age, Sun Descending

Raco and the mul talked a bit. Raco came to the conclusion that the undead mul was a terrible person in life and death had not soften his heart. He had considered asking the mul to join them, but was dissuaded from that notion.
Raco caught sight of a spineworm wrapping itself around Samsun and attacking him. Raco quickly used the way and knocked the spineworm unconscious. He then rolled the worm down the steep mountain, into the darkness below. Those who were awakened by the commotion thanked Raco and went back to sleep.
When the sun was just beginning to peak over the horizon, Raco woke his companions. The undead mul got up and left, not even bothering to say goodbye. Raco let him go. When Cheet asked if he should accompany them, becuase he was traveling the same direction, Raco told her no. Cheet didn't ask for details, but could see that Raco was unyielding in his decision.
When they were packed and ready, the group began hiking again. They climbed cliffs and avoid gulches. The air was growing colder and thinner. The group had to stop a few times, because they were getting more and more tired. Raco did not have a problem with the exhaustion, because of his mul constitution.

While on the side of a mountain, at a precarious angle, a pack of wild jhakar burst from a den to attack the group. The group fought well, even though fighting on the side of a mountain was difficult. A jhakar got a lucky strike, right on Raco's knee, and shattered it. Raco collapsed to the ground and screamed in agony.
The group managed to chase off the remaining jhakar and Dimitria rushed to Raco's aid. She crafted a split for his knee, between two bones, and tried to magically heal it. Unfortunately, her magic was not powerful enough to heal that shattered limb completely. Kraah and Samsun did not have access to magic that was powerful enough either. They were stuck, as Raco could not walk under his own power.
