Day 7, Week 2, Fifthover, Friend's Vengeance, 190th King's Age, Sun Descending
In the morning, the group decided to assist Abbas with fixing the devastation wrought upon the Lost Oasis by the battle there.
Since defiler ash was useless, it was discarded and nutrients, such as the bodies of the dead soldiers, were reintroduced into the soil. Seeds were gathered and planted as well. Yusef did not want to help, but Dimitria and Selia bullied him into it.

Day 8, Week 2, Fifthover, Friend's Vengeance, 190th King's Age, Sun Descending
The group woke up and began repairing the Lost Oasis again.
After a few hours Dimitria and Selia asked Rafiq to contact Jamal to see if Ali and the escaped slave, had made it to Selia's protected lands. Rafiq used the way to contact Jamal. Jamal is a Gulgish man who lives on Selia's protected lands. He quietly farms and tends the land. Jamal reported that Ali had arrived, but he had been badly injured by a giant eagle, which had attacked all three men. Unfortunately, the escaped slave had perished in the attack.
Rafiq |
Rafiq continued to state that Ali's injuries did not sound life threatening, but Dimitria didn't care and, as usual, she bullied him and got her way. Rafiq agreed to use the way and take the group to Selia's protected lands. Clavis went, because he thought planting stuff was boring and Yusef went to escape the hard work of toiling in the soil.
Selia and Dimitria greeted Jamal and asked him where Ali was. He told them that he was in the hut.
Jamal lived in a small stone hut, just big enough for two. In the center of the hut was a firepit and the hide roof had a hole in it, for smoke to escape.
When Dimitria and Selia saw the condition of Ali, they knew Rafiq had lied. Dimitria ran to him and checked his injuries. Ali was unconscious and his bandages had been amateurishly applied. She asked Jamal how long Ali had been unconscious and Jamal told her sixteen hours. Dimitria wanted to use her magic to heal him, but Ali seemed to be slowly regenerating on his own.
Dimitria went and grabbed Rafiq. She berated him for lying to her and Yusef laughed at him. She then asked Rafiq if he knew how Ali was healing. Rafiq looked Ali over briefly and told her that he was using the way to heal. He would have to be asleep for twenty four hours, but would wake up completely healed. Dimitria was relieved.
While they waited for Ali to heal, the group went to Dimitria's guarded lands, just to check on them. Selia and Jamal stayed behind, on her protected lands, to walk around and make sure they were okay.
The group discovered that Dimitria's emergency food store had been ransacked by rodents. She blamed herself, for storing them in reed baskets and not clay pots. They were just animals, doing what animals did, after all. Everything else on her lands seemed fine. They went back to Selia's protected lands.
Not knowing what to do, Clavis started working out. Yusef interrupted and asked Clavis to spar with him and show him some of his moves. Clavis didn't understand and thought Yusef wanted to fight him. Clavis punched Yusef in the eye and Yusef fell to the ground. He told Clavis that he didn't want to spar anymore.
Clavis decided to exercise instead and Yusef laid down to nap. Rafiq and Dimitria sat nearby and talked for hours. Selia and Jamal eventually returned from their walk and joined them.
When the time was near, everyone went to the hut to watch Ali awaken. Dimitria could see that Ali no longer had any wounds on him. Dimtria and Jamal were inside the hut with Ali, when he awoke.
Ali was pleased to see Dimitria there and praised her beauty and kindness. He thanked Jamal for his assistance as well. Ali then told Dimitria the story, of the giant eagle attack. Dimtria apologized for ruining Ali's comfortable noble lifestyle. Ali took Dimitria's hands and told her that despite all the hardship he had endured, he would never regret helping her in any way he could. He said he would do it all again for her.
Rafiq rolled his eyes, from outside the hut, and Yusef laughed at him. He then asked loudly what sorts of abilities Ali had with the way. Ali explained that he was a clairsentient and a psychometabolicist.
Dimitria thought Ali should join them on their quest. Selia agreed. Rafiq and Yusef disagreed. Clavis didn't care.
Dimitria argued for it, because Ali's strengths were what Rafiq was lacking. Selia thought the more, the better. Rafiq hated the idea, but couldn't articulate why very well. Yusef hated the idea of having another noble in the group, but saw how angry the idea made Rafiq, so he started slowly changing his mind. As usual, Dimitria got her way and Ali was invited to join the group. While looking lovingly into Dimitria's eyes, he accepted.
Selia asked Jamal if he wanted to join them and Jamal refused. He was too busy farming and was not a trained fighter. Selia said she just missed him when he was away, but that she understood.
The group now had to decide what to do next. They had possession of five of the seven gemstones, but Kalak was in possession of two of them. They were unsure how to take the stones from one of the most powerful men on Athas.
Rafiq decided to consult the Lord of the Mind. The Lord of the Mind began by berating Rafiq. The group had been ignoring their quest and the Ogre Doom could destroy the city of Tyr at any moment. In addition, destroying the Ogre Doom was all that mattered. The Lord of the Mind insulted Rafiq, called him an insignificant flesh bag!
Rafiq wanted to put the Lord of the Mind back into his pouch and ignore him some more, but he apologized instead.
Rafiq asked the Lord of the Mind if the last two gemstones had moved from their position. The Lord of the Mind said that they had not. Rafiq thanked the Lord of the Mind and said that the retrieval of the last two gemstones was of the utmost importance to them. He then put the Lord of the Mind back into his pouch.
The group began discussing possible plans to take possession of the last two gemstones. They talked for awhile and Rafiq came up with a plan. He thought they should go to a House Stel trade fort. They could get Ali supplied and then show the House Stel forces the Tyrian banner they had stolen from the fallen soldiers. Then, he would tell them that they planned on killing the Tyrant of Tyr, which would encourage Urik to go to war with Tyr. Then, while Kalak was distracted, they could break into the Golden Tower and steal the last two gemstones.
The rest of the group was confused and did not understand Rafiq's plan at all. Rafiq was very excited though and very confident that it would work. They all shrugged and allowed Rafiq to use the way to take them to the House Stel trade fort of Fort Iron.
