Thirteenth Session: Attack as Fire, Still as Mountain

Note: For those unfamiliar with Dark Sun, psionics are called the Will for wild talents and the Way for trained psionicists.

"Asli, is there something different about you?"
Jessel held out his holy dirt and commanded the undead Asli to flee. Nearly everyone else waited for her to move, because she was blocking the doorway. Shade threw a bone dagger at the magma cleric, but missed. The cleric  himself cast a spell at Jessel and Alaxander, they were held fast.
As soon as Asli fled Jessel's turning, Kalino rushed in to confront the cleric. The intense heat of the two foot tall magma elementals was causing Kalinos skin to blister. Julius used cryokinesis to cool one of the elementals. Alaxander used ballistic attack and struck the cleric across his brow, opening a wide gash. Shade ran in and attacked one of the magma elementals, but hitting the creature with his bone club had no effect. Vashti rushed in to heal Kalino the best she could. Jessel was frozen in place.
While maintaining his cyrokenisis, Julius began ballistic attacking the cleric along with Alaxander. Their hits disrupted the spell the cleric was preparing. Kalino slashed the cleric in the chest, opening a deep wound. The magma elementals tried to attack Kalino, but missed. Vashti continued to heal Kalino, who was still taking heat damage from one of the elementals. Shade moved to attack the cleric directly, but missed. Jessel was frozen in place.
Julius destroyed one of the magma elementals with cyrokenisis and, along with Alaxander, used the way to ballistic attack the cleric. Shade struck the cleric with his club. The cleric lashed out with his wood, obsidian laced, club and knocked Kalino out. Vashti dragged Kalino into the other room to heal him. He was alive and stable, but remained unconscious. The remaining elemental moved to attack Shade, but missed. Jessel just stood there.

Julius was out of energy to power the way, so he rushed in to confront the cleric with his obsidian scimitar. Alaxander continued to use the Way to throw rocks. Shade struck the cleric with his bone club and Vashti ran back in to heal Shade, who had been hurt badly. The magma elemental moved and blocked the exit, while striking at Vashti. The cleric hit Shade with his club. Jessel stood like an awkwardly placed statue.
Alaxander continued to pelt the cleric with rocks thrown with the way. The cleric knocked Shade unconscious with his club. Vashti dragged Shade into a corner of the room to heal him. Jessel was still frozen in place, watching his friends fall. All seemed lost and the magma cleric began mocking Julius. Julius wouldn't have any of it, however, and slashed the cleric deeply across his midsection.
Vashti healed Shade as best as she could and ran to attack the cleric with her bone club. She missed. The cleric swung at Julius, but he also missed. The elemental attacked Vashti, but it also missed. Kalino and Shade lay on the ground. Jessel was still frozen in place. Julius swing his scimitar and, unlike everyone else, struck his foe. The cleric collapsed in a heap.
A single silver is one hundred days of work for most Athasians.
The magma elemental stopped attacking and stood in place. Everyone moved away from it and waited for the summoning to expire. They looted the room while waiting for the magma to cool. They gathered the cleric's personal belongings, including some ceramic and silver coins, and kept what they wanted. Jessel finally began moving and magically healed Kalino and Shade. He then took a wall hanging from Lareth's room. Vashti swore that they would have a talk about Kalino's spell casting, which Kalino denied.
The group went to Jamil and their prisoners, dragging Lareth's corpse with them. They showed their prisoner's the corpse and asked them what they planned on doing. The prisoners agreed that there was no reason to stay and Vashti had them promise to find a new line of work. Shade gave each of them a few bits and they scurried off into the desert. Vashti paid Jamil the remaining money she promised him and told him he was free to stay or go. Jamil decided to stay with the group, for now.
The group retreated to the spider tower to rest and recuperate. They kept watch and all was quiet.

 Day 3, Week 2, Dominary, Friend's Vengeance, 190th King's Age, High Sun

In the morning, Jessel and Vashti began preaching about the benefits of their respective elements. Although Vashti did an admirable job, Jessel's charismatic and impassioned sermon had the other members of the group cheering for earth. The two clerics healed the group and they went back into the underground area.
Underground they found a few dozen zombies with stone pickaxes, digging deep tunnels into the magma layer below. As they reached the magma, the zombies would be consumed by it. The group got ready to engage them in combat, but found that the zombies ignored them, even when attacked. Jessel turned the zombies and steered them into the areas of exposed magma. Those who were not turned were destroyed by the group. Jamil gathered a few stone pickaxes to sell later.
Why hide in the shade? It's only 140 degrees (60C).
The group then drank and ate all they could from the bandits stashes. Some of the left over water was poured into the silt moat, which turned it into mud, which is the domain of the elemental plane of earth. They enjoyed the bandit's ale, but did not drink to excess. They gathered as many goods as they could carry for their journey back to Magosa. They slept one final night in the spider tower and set off in the morning.

Day 4, Week 2, Dominary, Friend's Vengeance, 190th King's Age, High Sun

Jessel wrapped Asli's body in the wall hanging and decided to carry her home. They walked all day, stopping to rest in the shade of some rocks during high sun. They drank water from one of the bandit's ceramic barrels, that Jessel carried on his back. As the sun was half set, they spotted the walls of Magosa. The gate had been greatly repaired and people could be seen milling about. They all shared a collective sigh and pressed on.
