Opposing them was Abbas, the druid, and a group of forty native inhabitants of the oasis. While the enemy soldiers were formed into ranks, the natives were haphazardly positioned. The group could easily see that Abbas and the natives were not prepared for a frontal assault from a trained military force.
Rafiq and Selia drew their longbows and began targeting the templars with arrows. Dimitria used her druidic magic to bolster the native's combat abilities. Everyone else ran over the flat ground, where defiled ash lay under their feet, and straight into the line of half-giants.
The defilers ignored the group and used their magic against the natives, so Selia and Rafiq changed targets and began firing arrows at them. Abbas was busy healing the native soldiers. Rafiq yelled at the native soldiers to attack the general, so they began doing so. Enemy arrows rained down on the natives.
Clavis danced around the half-giants, delivering vicious blows with the giant brass scimitar. Kraah swooped in and attacked, then flew out of reach before a counter strike. Yusef attempted to sneak up behind the half-giants, but they saw him. His pitiful attacks were nothing, compared to Clavis, so they ignored Yusef and struck at Clavis.
Dimitria used a scroll of Wall of Fire and encircled the defilers, a portion of the archers, and most of the templars. The defilers were incinerated and only a few templars escaped the flames. The archers were now confused and would take a few moments to reform ranks.
Abbas used his magical staff to deliver punishment to the Tyrian foot soldiers. Clavis managed to bend his giant brass scimitar, but discarded it in favor of his iron scimitar. The iron scimitar proved faster and he was able to fell a good number of the half-giant brutes. With Kraah's and Yusef's help, the three heroes were able to defeat the half giants.
Selia's bow string broke, so she discarded her bow and rushed in with her iron tipped spear ready. Just as the last half-giant was killed, she rushed past the bodies and engaged the squad of way manipulators. Even though the manipulators of the way had done little in the combat, she thought it best to not give them a chance. While she battled them, Yusef, Clavis, and Kraah joined her.
Dimitria was attempting to cast a spell, but a stray arrow struck her and disrupted it. She chose instead to use her healing magic on her allies, so she rushed into the fray. Rafiq, again, changed his target, targeting the enemy foot soldiers.
Since the half-giants were dealt with, Clavis, Kraah, and Yusef rushed into the group of way users and helped Selia dispatch them. Selia, Yusef, and Kraah then attacked the archers, while Clavis broke off and drove into the lines of enemy foot soldiers.
After slaying a few of the foot soldiers, Clavis came face to face with the Tyrian general. Clavis held his bloody iron scimitar, while the general held a large bloody iron two handed sword. Clavis was fast and struck out at the general. The general attempt to parry, but Calvis was too fast and struck the general in his side.
The general then swung his giant sword, but Clavis dodged easily and sliced the general's leg for his trouble. The general brought the sword down, hoping to cleave Clavis in two, but Clavis was too experienced at one on one fighting and dodged again. Like he was in the arena, Clavis flourished his sword in a dazzling display of skill and then brought it down on the general's sword arm.
The general attempted to recover, but he was too late. The general swung clumsily as Clavis brought his scimitar down, onto the general's chitin plated spaulder, shattering it. Then, with a flash, Clavis spun and sliced the general's head from his neck. Like he would have in the arena, Clavis caught the general's head and held it high in triumph.
The remaining Tyrian troops saw that their general had been defeated. They broke ranks and began to flee into the wilderness. Rafiq managed to pick off most of the remaining foot soldiers, while Kraah finished off the remaining archers. The single remaining templar attempted to surrender, but Abbas, seeing his dead friends around him, showed no mercy. Abbas beat the templar to death with his staff.
Of the forty natives, only five remained alive. The Lost Oasis had been successfully defended, but the cost had been high. Abbas was hurt, but would recover and the group was hardly touched at all. They spent the rest of the day burying the dead.

Before bedding down for the night, Kraah informed the group that the attack was his fault. The mindbenders of Kalak had discovered, from him, that they were using this part of the Lost Oasis to take refuge. He apologized to Abbas and promised to remain and defend the Lost Oasis with his life, just in case more Tyrian soldiers returned.
Abbas was not pleased. The attack had killed his friends and defiled much of the vegetation, but if Kraah would give his life defending the Oasis, Abbas would accept it.
