It was pointed out to me by Rovewin of Athas.org, that purple scorpions
are mentioned in the Revised Dark Sun setting book. However,
they are not drawn up in any of the books. So, in an effort to rectify
the situation, I have created a purple scorpion below.
Stats after the jump.
A blog for the Dark Sun Setting.

Dark Sun Trading Cards 16
Back in the early nineties, TSR released a series of trading cards.
There were some Dark Sun card included, so I decided to hunt them down
and post them here. They might be useful or just a novelty, but I hope
they're enjoyable.

Session Thirty One: On Athas, Plants Eat You
Note: For those unfamiliar with Dark Sun, psionics are called the Will for wild talents and the Way for trained psionicists.
After burying Spike, the group trudged on. They were all severely wounded, but they didn't have much choice. They were close to Urik and had to press on.
Vashti had gathered the fallen ambushers money and bone broadswords. Khalil recognized the ceramics as Draji coins. He explained, weakly, that House Tsalaxa was based in Draj. Vashti asked if the men were hired by House Tsalaxa and Khalil said it was likely, but that they couldn't prove it.
Vultures descended on the battlefield after they left and a few trailed the caravan for a couple of hours. When it was obvious that no one else was going to drop dead, the vultures left the area. The group was happy to see them go.
They stumbled on for hours in silence, Khalil being too exhausted to talk, and nothing bothered the caravan. The entire caravan was thankful, as there were so many injured they didn't know how good of a defense they could muster. As the caravan leaders handed out the evening rations, they praised the guards for saving the caravan. The group ate in silence and quickly went to bed, except for Julius, who took the first watch.

Non-Dark Sun Creatures in Dark Sun - Bird
There are many creatures for the various monstrous manuals that have
been officially added to Dark Sun. I added some unofficially for my game
and I'm sure a lot of other DMs do the same.
There is no inherent problem with this, although the flavor text often doesn't fit with the Dark Sun setting. My goal is to list the various monsters that "don't fit" and rewrite their flavor text to make them fit.

Session Thirty: Farewell to a Friend
Note: For those unfamiliar with Dark Sun, psionics are called the Will for wild talents and the Way for trained psionicists.
The group marched through the rest of the day and into the night. They came to a stop and camped when the moons were high and the night was cold. They kept watch.
Day 3, Week 2, Sedulous, Friend's Vengeance, 190th King's Age, High Sun
Earlier than they wished, they were awoken by the caravan masters. They quickly ate their rations and drank their water. Khalil started telling them about how his parents worked in a mill most of their lives, grinding farro needles into flour.
As they walked, Khalil explained that his older sister cared for him while his parents worked. The hut he lived in was one room and very cramped for his whole family, but it was still better than most people had. Julius didn't want to hear anymore, but couldn't think of a nice way to get Khalil to be quiet.
Khalil talked for hours, only stopping to allow others to talk, or to eat and drink. Vashti came to the conclusion that Khalil must hate silence. They marched until near midnight and finally stopped to sleep.
