Session Ninety-Nine: The Secret is Out

A few of the gith stopped hoping and pointed at Kraah flying overhead. They nocked arrows, but knew that he was flying well out of bow range. Some of them started leaping toward him, which brought them closer to the rest of the group. Kraah did the only thing he could think of to get the gith away from the rest of the group, he flew away.
As the majority of the group fled along a precarious mountain path, which lead them northeast, Kraah flew directly south. The gith were able to leap from rock outcropping to rock outcropping; they were moving swiftly. However, they could not keep up with Kraah's flying speed.
Once out of sight, the group hid themselves on the side of the mountain. They did their best to blend in, Yusef gave them camouflage advice. Kraah dipped into a ravine and was able to lose the gith chasing him. He flew low and was able to make it back to the group, without being spotted again. He hid also.
The gith passed them and they stayed hidden, until the last of the gith was well out of sight.
The group hiked a little further through the mountains, until the sun was touching the horizon. They found a flat place, but nothing to provide them cover. They set up a meager camp and went to sleep, after setting up a watch.
Dimitria was on watch and heard the flapping of wings. A man on a strange creature landed near the group. The man was Tyrian, or Balican, and wore a plain brown robe. The creature was a large worm, with bat-like wings, and the head of a sygra.
The man demanded that Dimitria give him the eggs. Dimitria yelled that he would get the eggs over her dead body. The man nodded and replied that he accepted her proposal. However, her yelling had awoken the rest of the group.
Everyone engaged the man and his strange mount. The mount was vicious, but the man proved to be a powerful paraelemental silt cleric. The group decided to focus on the man.
He was able to cast a hold person spell on Raco, but the rest of the group was able to beat him badly. The silt cleric tried to flee on his mount, but Kraah flew after the cleric and knocked him from his mount. The silt cleric fell into the darkness below. The strange mount flew on, while Kraah returned to the group.
After some light healing, the group went back to sleep.

Day 3, Week 1, Fifthover, Friend's Vengeance, 190th King's Age, Sun Descending

In the morning, the group did their morning rituals and handed out the daily ration of food and water. The group hiked all day, climbed up cliffs, and avoided crevices. They did not encounter any hostile creatures and, for that, they were grateful.

Day 4, Week 1, Fifthover, Friend's Vengeance, 190th King's Age, Sun Descending

For most of the day, the group marched along, much like the day before. There were treacherous climbs and rockfalls to avoid. When the evening drew near, the group found a nice rocky overhang where they could set up camp and have a semblance of shelter.

As the group was setting up camp, some flying creatures appeared over the mountain peaks. They were strange creatures, with an antlered head and an eagle's body. They were quite large.
The creatures landed near the group and introduced themselves as perytons. They said that they were servants of the rain lords. They had tracked down the group to take possession of the eggs, that they might better protect them.
Kraah welcomed them and was pleased that they were there. The rest of the group was immediately suspicious and did not trust them. They began asking the perytons questions, to determine if they were telling the truth.
The perytons remained calm and answered all of their questions satisfactorily. The perytons even offered to lead the group to a known rain cleric, if they preferred to hand the eggs over to him. Kraah continued to trust them, but the rest of the group continued to be wary.
To prove that the group was overreacting, Kraah decided to use his magic to see if they were evil. After casting the spell, as discreetly as possible, Kraah hung his head in shame and had to admit to the group that the perytons were evil.
Dimitria told the perytons that they would not be handing over the eggs, or allow themselves to be lead into a trap the perytons had laid for them. The perytons was infuriated and attacked the group. The perytons were quite fierce combatants, but were constrained a bit, because the group had not left the protection of the rocky outcropping. The overhang prevented the perytons from using flight to their advantage.
After the perytons were defeated, healing magic was used to heal the wounded group members. Dimitria suggested butchering the perytons for food. The rest of the group was appalled by the suggestion. Yusef even asked if she was a halfling.
Dimitria defended herself, saying she would never eat a humanoid, but the rest of the group thought the idea of eating an intelligent creature was disgusting. Dimitria relented and the peryton bodies were pitched down the mountainside.
With Raco agreeing to keep watch, the group bedded down for the night.
