Session Sixty-Four: Gray Plumed Mountain Part 4

Note: For those unfamiliar with Dark Sun, psionics are called the Will for wild talents and the Way for trained psionicists.

The twelve foot long braxat beetle turned toward the group, as they slowly approached from the tunnel, and began spitting acid at them. The group dodged the best they could, but many of them got sprayed. Alaxander teleported to the other side of the braxat beetle, to the wood chest.
Kalino and Kiara rushed the monstrous beetle, Kalino attacked with his iron tipped spear and Kiara with her copper wrist razor. Julius did not have any mental energy to use the way, so he ran to the side of the beetle and attacked it with his finely crafted bone longsword. Vashti did not have any spells available, so she held back and waited to tend the injured. Shade used his short bow to fire arrows at the giant insect, but the arrows didn't penetrate the beetle's carapace.
The beetle fought back, grabbing Kiara in its mandibles and shaking her to and fro. The beetle then slammed her unconscious body to the ground. Vashti ran to Kiara and pulled her away from the beetle.
Alaxander was about to open the chest, but thought it might be trapped. Instead, he turned around and started battering the beetle with physical strikes of mental force. Julius jumped on the beetle's back and tried to find a gap in the beetle's armor. Kalino kept stabbing at the beetle's head, while Vashti used her healing skills to patch up Kiara.

The beetle bit Kalino, but Kalino managed to prevent it from capturing him in its mandibles. Working together, Shade pulled at the beetle's chitin, exposing an unarmored portion of the beetle's body and Julius drove his sword deep into the monster's flesh. The beetle roared and thrashed about, puncturing the membrane in the domed area. Liquid magma started pouring into the room, burning the beetle and threatening the group. In his thrashing, Shade and Julius fell from the beetle's back.
Alaxander grabbed the chest and teleported away. Julius and Kalino ran for the exit, while Shade stayed to strike at the monster a couple of more times. Vashti continued dragging Kiara to safety.
Julius and Kalino caught up with Vashti and helped her carry Kiara to safety. Shade began to run, as the lava consumed the beetle and poured after him. Shade made it through the first set of double doors and slammed them shut, the magma crashed into them and started pouring through the cracks. Shade was burned badly and the magma kept pouring through.
Shade ran through the second set of doors and was, once again, badly burned by the magma. He finally ran through the third set of doors and shut them. He backed away and, although some lava oozed through the cracks, Shade was able to avoid it.
Shade checked the chest and disabled the simple trap inside of it. Alaxander opened the chest and inside was a few coins, some gems, and the medallion they were looking for. Alaxander put the medallion in his backpack.
The group went back to the crossroads and down the final unexplored hallway.
After a few turns, they group arrived at a hallway lined with large obsidian sheets. They moved slowly through the hallway, at first and discovered a pit trap. They fell back and tied themselves together. They, again, started moving through the hallway. As they walked and leapt over the many pit traps in the hallway, they began to get very cold. They were shivering and getting damaged from the intense cold, but they finally stumbled through to the end.
They untied themselves and found another room with two obvious pits that spanned the entire room. Shade started to move into the room and found that the floor was completely frictionless. Shade tied a rope around himself and purposefully slid into the room.
He timed his jumps to be right when he came upon the pit and perfectly navigated the room. Sliding and staying on his feet the entire time. The rest of the group used the rope to guide themselves through the room. Everyone praised Shade for his dexterous sliding and jumps.
The next hallway lead them to another room. Inside the room were six shallow wooden bowls big enough for a human to sit in. More interestingly, however, was the stream of silt flowing from one ten foot diameter hole in the wall to another ten foot diameter hole in the wall. The silt only filled half of each of the holes and was magically, or psionically, suspended three feet off of the ground.
