Note: For those unfamiliar with Dark Sun, psionics are called the Will for wild talents and the Way for trained psionicists.
The group wandered through the canyon maze, with Shade confidently leading the way. Julius was the only one who doubted Shade's ability to successfully guide them through the rocky badlands. They saw many small lizards and birds, but nothing dangerous.
Night fell and the group set up watch.
Day 15, Week 1, Macro, Friend's Vengeance, 190th King's Age, Sun Descending
While Alaxadner was keeping watch, he suddenly found himself on the mindscape. In front of him was a huge tan lizard. It stomped and attempted to crush him, but he hid himself in a bank of fog. He called out, in the real world, and woke everyone up.
The lizard kept attacking Alaxander on the mindscape, but Alaxander kept defending against its mental attacks. The group awoke and Alaxander explained what was going on. They searched the area for the lizard and eventually found it.
The group engaged the lizard, in the physical world, and drove it away. It left the mindscape as well. The group congratulated themselves and went back to sleep.
In the morning, the group ate their morning meal and pack up their belongings. They walked through the canyons all day. Shade was sure he was leading them in the correct direction and, even though, they ran into a few dead ends, he convinced the group as well. The day was dull and hot.
Day 16, Week 2, Macro, Friend's Vengeance, 190th King's Age, Sun Descending
The day passed as the previous day had. The group wandered through the canyons, trying to find their way to the next gemstone.
Day 17, Week 2, Macro, Friend's Vengeance, 190th King's Age, Sun Descending
While they were wandering through the canyons, early in the morning, a rock cactus attached itself to Alaxander. He attempted to flee, but ended up dragging the cactus along with him. Everyone laughed at him and then cut the tethers that were holding the two together.
The rest of the day was a lot less exciting.
Day 18, Week 2, Macro, Friend's Vengeance, 190th King's Age, Sun Descending
The morning began as the others had. Vashti preached her sermon and everyone consumed their rations. They began traveling, with Shade continuing to lead them. Nothing of note happened in the morning and it looked like it was going to be another uneventful day.
After high sun, Julius saw a cactus move and the rest of the group thought he was crazy. Cacti don't move. Suddenly, a cactus began clumsily walking toward them and throwing needles at them. The needles struck everyone. The needles were poisoned and Shade, Vashti, and Kiara failed to resist it. They were paralyzed.
Kalino, Julius, and Alaxander used the way, and good old fashioned blunt force trauma, to defeat the cactus. It took a few minutes for Shade, Kiara, and Vashti to come around. The group walked away and kept searching for the next gemstone.
Day 19, Week 2, Macro, Friend's Vengeance, 190th King's Age, Sun Descending
The following day was hot and dry, just like every other day. They continued wandering through the canyons all morning. In the late afternoon, they were surprised at what they found.
Carved into the side of the cliff face was a large building. The workmanship was impressive and was not greatly weathered. In the entrance, were two agafari doors. The doors were unadorned, but of impressive size, nearly twenty-five feet tall.
The Lord of the Mind told them that the next gem was somewhere in the direction of the building, but something was interfering with their connection. The group decided to go inside and see if they could find it. They were surprised to find that the doors moved easily and were unbarred.
The entrance chamber was impressive, with a high ceiling and impressive stone pillars. There were candles in tin candle holders affixed to the wall. There were also six humans and six dwarves, all wearing brown robes.
One of the humans stepped forward and greeted the group. He sounded pleased to see the group, which caused the group to be alert for trouble. The man welcomed them to the Prusa Secret Monastery. He further explained that the monastery was for the training in the use of the way and his name was Nabil.
Nabil offered to show them around the monastery and the group agreed. The monastery was impressive, with many rooms carved into the cliffside. There was a large meditation room, a training room, and an infirmary. There were also items that were empowered with the way, that made life easier. There were bone platforms that lifted people from the ground level to the next higher level. The tin candle holders were empowered to make the light of the candles brighter. There were also animated objects moving through the corridors. The group was impressed.
Nabit explained that the first monks arrived at the site about two-hundred years ago. There were a set of natural caves, that the monks expanded into the monastery that existed today.
The last room the group was shown, was a small room with three sets of bunk beds. The beds were bone and wood, with straw stuffed mattresses, far nicer than what the group was used to. Nabil then said he would leave them to rest.
When the group was alone, the group tried to communicate with the Lord of the Mind the Lord of the Arms, and the Lord of the Legs, but were unsuccessful. The gems were silent. Julius used telepathy to contact the Lord of the Mind and was able to communicate with it.
The Lord of the Mind explained that something in the monastery was keeping them for communicating with telepathy. It then explained that the gem nearby was the Lord of the Senses and could be felt, but it could not pinpoint its location.
Knowing its name, Julius then chose to contact the Lord of the Senses. He was able to do so and the Lord of the Senses was quite surprised, as it had not spoken to anyone, with the exception of the Lord of the Mind, in a very long time.
The Lord of the Senses explained that it was in a large, round room, sitting on a pedestal. It felt shame at being covered in dust. It also explained that it was placed on the pedestal by a dwarf, named Michel, who was allied with the ogres. It had no idea how long it had been sitting in the dark room.
The Lord of the Senses then asked Julius questions about himself. Julius answered them and it kept asking more. The Lord of the Senses asked Julius to tell it his life story, "in excruciating detail." Julius explained that he knew the Lord of the Senses was bored, but would be in contact again. Julius then broke contact.
